Privacy & Data Security

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

ContextsBase was created on the premise that personal documentation, technical runbooks, and engineering knowledge should belong exclusively to you. We do not sell your personal data, monetize private notes, or share user files with data brokers.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to deliver the service:

  • Account Credentials: Email address and authentication tokens necessary to log into your workspace.
  • Document Content: The markdown notes, documents, and workspace hierarchy you choose to store.
  • Usage Analytics: Privacy-friendly, aggregated telemetry (such as page views or feature clicks) to improve performance and stability.

3. How Your Content Is Handled

Your markdown documents are encrypted in transit via TLS and stored in secure cloud infrastructure. If you utilize source-aware AI features, only the document contexts you explicitly attach to a prompt are sent to model inference endpoints—never your entire private database.

4. Third-Party Services

We partner with trusted service providers for core infrastructure, including hosting (Vercel / Cloudflare), transactional support delivery, and optional analytics (PostHog). These third parties only process information required to perform their specific operations.

5. Data Export & Deletion (Zero Lock-In)

You own your data. You can export all your markdown files at any time in raw, standard formats (.md). You may also request permanent account and document deletion by contacting our support desk.

6. Security Measures

We enforce strict industry standards, including modern encryption, principle-of-least-privilege access controls, and regular dependency vulnerability scanning to safeguard your information.
